Successful result in an unfair prejudice claim arising from a shareholder dispute

BTG Advisory was engaged to provide forensic accountant expert witness services following a dispute between the shareholders of a leading group of night-life entertainment venues.

Our forensic services team provided expert evidence on the issue of the value of the petitioner’s shareholding in the deemed group of companies and assisted the client and their legal team by way of forensic accounting consultancy. 

BTG Advisory was able to demonstrate that the valuation amount claimed by the applicant, and supported by their expert accountant, was materially overstated. As a result of these findings the parties successfully achieved a settlement of almost one quarter of the original amount claimed
