Advising on transactions that involve the employer includes assessing whether proposed transaction results are detrimental to the scheme and, if so, our pensions advisory team can provide advice on appropriate mitigation. We can advise in circumstances where the employer is distressed, and how it can meet its ongoing defined benefit pension contribution responsibilities. The team can identify a range of possible employer compromises. In addition, we provide PPF guarantee certification reports and offer expert witness services in connection with litigation undertaken by trustees.

BTG Advisory aims to assist trustees and sponsoring employers by providing an independent analysis, enabling them to carry out their responsibilities for securing the funding of their pension scheme and its ability to meet the expectations of its members on retirement. In addition, BTG Advisory can help in relation to pension scheme disputes, including initial complaints under the pension scheme procedure (IDPR) through to disputes heard at court or by the Pensions Ombudsman.
